*Lectured class about finishing strong for Quarter 1. A lot of approaching students. Need to really study the notes.
*Went over new benchmark: What is the Mahele? How did it come about? What effects did it have on Hawaiians?
*Went over Mahele 1 Reading. Purpose was to find out how the foreigners and Hawaiians viewed land.
*Students worked in pairs to compare and contrast using a double bubble map.
*Collected teenbiz homework. Students had until 3:30 pm to turn in report.

*Looked at student formatives. Disappointed that students did not follow feedback that was given yesterday. Students need to have complete sentences in their outline. Many students did not bother to revise so their time in class was wasted making corrections instead of working on their visual. Also, they need to look at their notes from Tuesday and the readings we went over for correct information.


Homework:

1. Pop up book page is due at the end of the period tomorrow. Tonight they should:

a. Type out the headings
b. Type out the political, social and economic effects (use the organizer that I looked at)
c. Draw out picture only of Before and After

*Checked formatives of students. Gave feedback to students:

Comments: 1. Complete sentences (e.g., subsistence economy ----> Hawaiians used a subsistence economy in the past.); 2. Look at notes from yesterday. Students were still getting their facts mixed up. It starts with looking at the notes and the readings. 3. Political: Abolishment of Kapu System or the chiefs and the sandalwood example.

*Collected Teenbiz reports for History of Hula. Students were given a day to turn in reports. They needed to check Edline yesterday if they saw a missing assignment.

*Students given time to revise the section I checked today. STUDENTS SHOULD ALSO REVISE THE OTHER 2 SECTIONS SINCE THEY KNOW WHAT MY EXPECTATIONS ARE NOW BASED ON THE FEEDBACK GIVEN TO THEM.

*Reviewed effects of foreigners and figured out which ones were social, political and economic effects.
*Went over formative handout with students. Students need to complete all 3 sections (social, economic and political). I will check one tomorrow that they will draw their pop up design for and 2 on Thursday)
*Students informed to check Edline if they have a missing Teenbiz Article for the History of Hula reading. I will change grade if they turn in a printout of their score with their name on it. Those that did not do article yet can also turn in report by TOMORROW. Students got an extended day to hand in report of score.
*Example of pop up page shown to students. Will be on blog tomorrow. Project due by this Friday (at the end of the class period). No extensions since Thursday and Friday will be a workday.
